MySunrise was founded in 2017 and launched as a Pilot in 2018 at Royal Cornwall Hospital. Following the success in Cornwall it was taken up across all 5 NHS Cancer Centres in Devon and Cornwall with support from the Peninsula Cancer Alliance.
We are thrilled to be able to share our learning and this resource as we work with new sites across the UK.
Cancer treatment is so much more complex with new treatments avaliable all the time. Navigating through cancer treatment can be a journey into the unknown for patients and their families.
Our vision is to empower patients and to give them the help, support and information they need every step of the way through their treatment. Helping to relieve anxiety and giving back some control.
I was diagnosed with a malignant metastatic melanoma in 2016 and, while I have had some lapses, I am currently cancer free albeit with monthly immunotherapy treatment. I started writing about my experience of having cancer as part of a blog so that my young son (18 months at the time diagnosis) would have something to help him understand what I went through.
This blog was self published as a book in 2021 to help people understand the reality (and sometimes hilarity) of facing everything cancer has to throw at you alongside everyday life.
I am proud to have been working with the MySunrise App for the past few years and believe it is an exceptional resource to help people of all ages and backgrounds access the information they need, when and where they need it.
